I am currently in love with this cozy style, perfect for autumn and winter!

After seeing a wonderful tutorial by Megan on http://brassyapple.blogspot.com/2011/01/diy-sweater-pillows-cozy-up.html, I am inspired to go by my local thrift store and see what wonderful sweaters are there to be found! Once again, savings is in the crafting of something yourself. (Case in point: the Ralph Lauren Pillow is on sale for $69.99.) I’ll let you know what happens next in the sweater pillow saga!

When my current favorite candle spilled red wax all over my wooden coffee table, my fiance immediately came up with a wonderful solution. He bought me a new candle that I had been mentioning recently. He bought me an incredible Vanilla Chai candle. Not only that, but he also got me one with a wooden wick. I had never tried this type of candle out before, but, I confess, my curiosity had been piqued by all I had heard.

I must say, I am greatly impressed! The scent is amazing and the light crackling sound is very cozy and soothing. I also love the wide wick that flickers perfectly. Some of the best wooden wicked candles are those by WoodWick. You can find a sampling of these at most Hallmark stores or can purchase them online at stores such as Virginia Candle Company or other discounted retailers. Try one out! I think you’ll love it this autumn and fall as the days become cooler and nights become longer.

I just LOVE Autumn! And I especially love the fact that I can decorate with edibles! It’s absolutely perfect because as soon as you get tired of the look, you can just… eat it!

Who says that you can only put trifles into trifle bowls? I say, if you love a piece, work it into your decor!

A repurposed basket is another budget-friendly find. If you find a great basket that matches your decor, you can use it throughout the year. For example, right now, I have a stash of pie pumpkins, squash and pinecones, gratis from my brother and sister-in-law’s backyard. At Christmas time, I love making it into a table centerpiece with a dozen jewel-toned ornaments in different sizes.

Happy October everyone!

Autumn weather inspires me to starting cooking hot and hearty meals, to pull out the blankets and, of course, to read. The gray, cloudy skies bring out the philosopher in me as well and I begin to journal more than ever. In fact, somehow I manage to become poetical as well. It’s as if the crisp breezes bring my thoughts to life.

I have long been a fan of Barnes and Noble. A few years ago, I discovered that it actually would save me money to become a member. In addition, I love that they let you save a wish list at their online store. Here is my current, eclectic list.
